Peter Cat Recording Co.

Peter Cat Recording Co. are an anomaly in Delhi, let alone beyond. This is their last night on earth.

The music and videos they make and perform are bereft of a period in history. You hear the influences of classic bollywood and disco, American soul and jazz, African funk, Gypsy and Balkan music as well as Indian psychedelic music. All with a production aesthetic which marries jazz era liveliness to hip-hop experiments.

The music acts as a vehicle for crude romantic songs and poetry describing the life of the individual and society in this bleak and difficult period in history.

The band has played venues and clubs all over India headlining and participating in major music festivals such as Magnetic Fields, Ziro & Nh7 Weekender. The band has also played shows at festivals across Europe including The Great Escape and Alchemy. They were recently signed by the French music label, Panache and are set to release old and new music worldwide on both vinyl and digital platforms.

The live ensemble consists of 4-5 members with various instruments including harmoniums, trumpets, guitars amongst others, constantly exchanging them as per the song’s requirements.

Unexpected samples and announcements puncture the gaps between music which constantly oscillates between various moods and tempos.
