Morning Mourning stemmed from his keen interested in recording music wherever he could.
Morning Mourning is a solo singer-songwriting project by Delhi-based musician Shantanu Pandit. Morning Mourning was ideated by Pandit in September 2016, introducing a new chapter of songwriting for him. It also stemmed from his keen interested in recording music wherever he could.
His latest album ‘Is This Biodegradable’, released last year, was described by Pandit as an attempt at harnessing the spirit of his youth. The album was described by Rock Street Journal as “a collection of cozy and non-intrusive songs that reflect his experiences with change and personal growth”, and commended for its lo-fi aesthetic. Morning Mourning describes his own music as “pre-teen protein”, and has played at some of India’s most popular music properties, like Sofar Sounds, NH7 Weekender and Ziro Festival of Music. He is also the frontman for New Delhi’s alternative rock band Run It’s The Kid.
“Morning Mourning is the lens through which I see myself. It’s who I become. It’s how I write songs. It gives me courage. It helps me be honest. I am it and it is me. But we are not the same.”
