LoboCop

LoboCop is the DJ avatar of Kenneth Lobo – a cultural producer, Indian nightlife historian and occasional music journalist. As a DJ, he is drawn to the funkier, groovier side of things – marrying soul, funk, boogie and disco rarities for an unmistakable sound. He has a particular talent for the lost art of building up a night, whetting the crowd’s appetite, all in service to the vibe. LoboCop is a genre-agnostic selector who loves to get dancers out of their comfort zones, grooving to music you seldom hear on Indian dance floors.

His first gig, remarkably, was at Berlin’s famed club Kater Holzig in 2013 where he played Indian disco and funk cuts from '80s. Soon after, he co-founded the Mumbai-based District Fifty label & collective along with Indian DJ royalty Kris Correya, Kini Rao & Himanshu Pandey. Together, they threw down some of the most memorable parties from 2013 to 2015.

In the decade since, LoboCop has found joy in obscurity. He prefers to play with and for friends at select venues. These have included the country’s leading nightlife crews like Wild City, Dynamite Disco Club, Bhavishyavani Future Soundz and Krunk at venues like Bonobo, Social and antiSocial, in Mumbai as well as venues like JUNA, The Loft and House of Chapora in Goa, where he is currently based.
