Tom VR has been quietly developing his style for over a decade under the surface. Recently his signature sound has flourished and resulted in a string of records on the label he co-runs, Valby Rotary, and Midland’s 'Intergraded' as well as his recent album 'Please Keep Shimmering' on All My Thoughts; an expertly crafted journey of textural patchwork electronica.

'Please Keep Shimmering' was inspired by the fight against burnout and keeping the flame of creativity alive, against the various odds. Tom painted warped self-portraits and manipulated them into visuals to run alongside the release. One of them was used for the cover itself.

Tom’s music is truly his own and is distinctive in style. Songs are tied together in the same sonic universe through recycling and resampling old projects to bloom new ideas, and then often laced with intricate synth melodies. Tom’s musical vision, like many, was partly shaped by his time spent in Leeds, where he first started going to clubs and DJing regularly, coupled with a 7 year residency at The Mango Club in Chester.

Over the last year his music has been supported by Ben UFO, OK Williams, Bonobo, Jaguar, Annie Mac, Mary Anne Hobbs, Midland, NIKS, Peach, Disclosure and Bicep (who even did an edit of his track ‘Last Ride’).
