BFR Sound System is a hand-built Jamaican style soundsystem, owned and operated by Indian reggae artists Delhi Sultanate and Begum X aka Samara Chopra, lead singers of The Ska Vengers and co-founders of Word Sound Power. Reggae music and sound system culture originated in the former Caribbean slave plantation of Jamaica and are widely acknowledged as the foundation of modern bass music and much of today’s electronic music culture.

A reggae soundsystem consists of a large stack of hand-built speakers and power amplifiers that lend immense power to the music and have the ability to literally vibrate bodies and objects in its surrounding. What is of the essence is not loudness, but the warm physical sensation of bass frequencies, engulfing you and those around you. Music becomes a physical and collective experience. Performances consist of a selection of Afro-Carribean music from reggae, ska, roots and dub to dancehall, selected by Delhi Sultanate and played exclusively on vinyl records.

The performance also features vocal performances by Delhi Sultanate and Begum X as well as guest MCs and upcoming trombone maestro Rosie Turton.
