Amidst the high intensity and scorching heat of the desert festival, an oasis emerges, offering a moment of pause to the sonic journeymen. At the heart of the palace is a sacred pyramid, a temple, that hums an inviting tune, beckoning a curious hand. Suspended before each face of the pyramid, bells await—each chime unlocking a portal of introspection, inviting moments of stillness that refresh body, mind, and spirit.
Against this enigmatic form, the dwellers of the oasis perform rituals. These ceremonies - part performance, part invocation - are believed to channel energies through the pyramid, awakening it as a vessel that feeds the desert with a resonating vitality.
The Sound Oasis is an interactive sound installation, invites the audience to deepen listening awareness. Sitting in the central courtyard, it gently hums – a contrasting focal point amid the vibrant festival stages. Turning itself into an immersive stage – two sound journeys as audiovisual performances provide the audience an opportunity to decompress.
The oasis dwellers are sound practitioners and multimedia artists based in Auroville: Vinay Khare, Dhruv Dhingra, Tommaso D'avanzo, Silvia Gozetti, Francesca Robiolio and Mrityunjay Sathyanarayanan.
